Cancellations and refunds

Updated 6 October 2026

Fresh food is prepared for the market day you chose, so timing matters. This is when you can cancel, when money comes back, and what your legal rights are.

Cancelling before the cutoff

You can cancel any order up to the cutoff shown on your order, which is 6pm the evening before market day unless your order says otherwise. Write to rafael@ripponstudio.co.uk with your collection code before the cutoff. We refund the full amount, including the service fee, to the card you used, normally within five working days.

After the cutoff

Once the cutoff passes the stall has bought, baked or butchered for your order, so we cannot promise a refund. Write to rafael@ripponstudio.co.uk with your collection code and we will ask the stall what they can do.

If the stall or the market cannot trade

If a stall pulls out, sells out or the market day is cancelled, we cancel the order and refund what you paid for that food, and the service fee on it, without you having to ask.

If the food is not right

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 food must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit to eat. If it is not, tell the stall at the stall if you can, or write to rafael@ripponstudio.co.uk as soon as you can, ideally within 48 hours, with your collection code and a photo. You are entitled to a refund or a replacement, and we will help sort it out with the stall.

Weighed items

For food sold by weight you pay online for the weight you chose. The stall weighs it out as close to that as it can. If it comes in under the weight you paid for, tell us and we will refund the difference.

The 14 day cooling off period

For most things bought online you get 14 days to change your mind. That right does not apply to food and drink that can spoil quickly, or to goods made to your order, so it does not apply to orders on Farmers Basket. Your right to cancel before the cutoff above is more generous, and your rights on faulty or misdescribed food are unaffected.

Not collected

  • Food not collected by the end of market day is treated as collected and is not refunded, because it was prepared and held for you.
  • Tell the stall as early as you can if you cannot make it. Many will hold it or refund out of goodwill.
